How does the process work?

1:1 sessions:

Once you send in an enquiry we will aim to contact you within 2-3 working days. If your enquiry seems suitable for our services we will ask you to fill in a 'Therapy client and therapist agreement form'. You can find this form on our resources page. Once this is received your therapist will contact you to arrange your appointment and start your journey!

Smile Check
Therapy

Your initial session provides the opportunity for you to talk to a qualified and experienced practitioner to discuss your situation and to agree what might help. It can feel intimidating and uncomfortable at first, but we are very experienced and will try to put you at ease. In the session, we will ask you a few questions about your situation and tell you a bit more about how we work and what might be best for you. Just arrive for your appointment and we'll take it from there.

Everything you tell us in your sessions is confidential and will not be passed on to anyone without your permission, including your GP (except in a few extreme risk situations or if we believe that you or somebody else is at risk, which we will speak to you about in the initial session). We ask for the details of your GP and any other health professionals involved in your care in case we need to contact them.  However, other than this, all material disclosed is confidential and will not be entered onto your medical records.

Do you offer direct work to children and young people?

For children under the age of 6+ we offer the intervention to the parent/carers, who are typically best able to support and encourage their child with their needs.

For children & young people 6+ we are able to do direct work with the young person, on their own or with their parent/carers present. We understand that every situation is different and will work with you in designing an appropriate intervention plan with you.

Consent for children under the age of 16 must be completed by their parent/carer. If you are 16+ you are able to give consent yourself.

We are also able to provide workshops/ groupwork to children & young people and/or parents.

Yes. It is important to note that we do not offer diagnosis services. If an individual has SEND needs we are able to support them with their mental health needs, however, cannot offer direct work for their additional need. We endeavour to do our best to support everybody, however, if we believe that you will be better supported by another specialist service then we may make the appropriate recommendation.
